  • Homemade Bi directional tension device

    Hi. I am new to this community and wanted to get your thoughts on my homemade device. I used pvc pipe, fittings and a TLC tugger body to make a device similar to how the DTR works. It uses tape as well as a clamp to keep the tape from backing off. I'll upload phottos when I get a chance since it won't let me right now

      I don't have enough skin to use the TLC X so this method prevents the skin from being pulled off.

          Just remove the pusher and use it as a regular tugger until you do.

            Ok I am finally able to upload photos of the device. I chose this over the TLC-X because the parts are considerably cheaper and much more durable. I can customize the device and not have to worry about the cone coming off. I also prefer using tape because it seems to have less failures for me. The device is a combination of the canister method and the DTR method and seems to work pretty well.

              Kudos for making your own device. It's always good to see somebody do this. Hope it works for the long term.

              A little biophysics insight:

              Personally I've always questioned the whole idea of "bidirectional". It more or less started way-back-when in the earlier days of modern tugging, with the practice of packing inside the temporary skin tube. Some saw that as bidirectional tension, and some guys thought it was at least a kind of anchor, in the same way that using strap around your balls anchored the shaft skin with the hope that this would increase the effect of tension. "Hope" is the operative word, though. Nobody actually knew then, and nobody knows now, either.

              But here's the thing: to pull on a folded-over section of shaft skin is actually pulling on both sides of that fold. In other words the "inner" side gets pulled too, along with the "outer" side that you can see. The inner side doesn't just sit there all loose, like some people think, it's acted on by tension at least as much as the outer side (the "outer" side has a tendency to evert slightly).

              So because this is true, does anyone need an anchor in this scenario? Not in my opinion, not if tension is pulling more or less equally on both sections of skin. Of course nobody's ever tested the idea of bidirectional, it's just one of those internet device selling points, not something anybody's ever proven. And if it does put some more-than-usual amount of tension on the "inner" side, my guess is it can't be enough to make a difference from the skin's perspective. Tension is tension; all you have to do is reach the point where it becomes a stimulus to the skin, and you're off and running. Well, running at a really, really slow pace.

              But what's really amusing in this: Pulling "forward" on the outer side of the fold (going in a "forward" direction) like most devices do, isn't pulling "forward" on the inner side, it actually pulls the "inner" section back towards your belly. Now you DO have two directions. Not everybody understands this, but it's true, so in this sense you get two directions of tension, one towards your glans, and one towards your belly, all coming from that fold of skin, because it's doubled over. In the past there have even been guys who thought that pulling "back" towards your belly would make any expanded skin stay there at the bottom of the shaft, unable to be moved, which of course is laughable. That comes from the 'tension shapes skin' myth. Almost all of the nonsense on restoration forums comes from this myth.

              So maybe you can see that the idea of bidirectional isn't quite what guys think it is. But luckily tension is tension, and it will stimulate your skin to grow in the only way that it can possibly grow, which happens to be in place, and which happens to be the way we all want.
