  • What is your Restoration Protocol?

Admittedly, I have not been posting on the forum NEAR as much as most and have not been restoring as long as many on here. I have scoured many of the forums for a long time as well as the restoration websites and have seen many pages about how certain methods/products work and how to use them, but never a complete daily/weekly protocol of what someone does. I thought it might be helpful for those starting out or even for those that are looking to jump past a certain growth point to see the complete protocol others use to possibly incorporate into their own.

With that in mind I would like to start a topic thread on protocols where we could all post what we use, how we use them, and how much. I know I would have made some different purchases early on if I had known what I know now. Like everything else in life, you can spend as much money on restoring as you would like… I have looked at it from the standpoint of, “How much would I pay to be done with this in two years?” That answer is different for everyone.

With that said, here is my current restoration protocol, I am currently at a CI-4. When it says daily - that means every day. I don’t take a day off unless absolutely necessary due to injury or athletic exertoin - but even then I would retain.

    Daily in the Morning:
    • stand in front of a red light for 20 min wearing the stealth retainer P-tainer with 22oz weight
      • the plastic ptainer is fine, I got the stainless steel one because I take the weight on and off and i believe it will hold up.... but you could buy a lot of plastic for that
      • I know that for some the 22oz is heavy - I have very elastic tissue and could probably do more - start low and work up
      • The red light is beneficial for healing and collagen production (it’s usually labeled as anti aging, which it is, but also decreases inflammation)
    • Shower then apply the retainer with hole set up for air - all purchased from foreskinrestore.com

    Daily during the day:
    • I know some urinate through the retainers - I tend to just remove it and put it back, It takes about as long as trying to dry it off, plus I have a strong stream that tends to blow the thing up!
    • I leave the devices on until I have to pee, all day long.
    • I also have an AirForce direct air device from AdvancedDevices that I will switch out with the retainer set up for air because they inflate slightly differently and keep the stretch going.
    • Occasionally I will change up the routine with the DTR from foreskinrestore.com. I have put the retainer and pusher on it from chrisonlinestore on Etsy - highly recommend. I like it a lot.
    • I have ordered and will receive tomorrow the air device from chrisonlinesotre and will hopefully incorporate that as well - I got it because I think it will be more comfortable than either the airforce or the retainer set up for air. I don’t know if it will hold air as well - time will tell.

When at home during the day:
    • I will also use the AirForce with weight ( I currently have an impact socket that I use over the top of the device that weighs about 26 g total… I know, heavy for some) and when I’m done I switch back to the retainer set up for air.
    • I will also use the DTR with weight to switch things up.

    Daily in the Evening
    • When I get home I shower and apply either the stealth retainer with weight or the Airforce with weight, depending on how I feel - If I’m going to be sitting a lot, like watching a movie I just go with direct air with the airforce or the retainer with air.
    • For yard work, I use direct air or just a retainer (my preferred is the one from chrisonlinestore on Etsy with the frenulum notch and hole)

    Daily at Night Time
    • I moisturize the foreskin, not the glans, with a face moisturizer that promotes healing and cell growth. I only use a pea size amount and wait about 10 minutes for it to dry. If I get to much or it is too greasy, I just wipe the excess off with a warm wet wash rag. I use this from amazon because it isn’t that oily.
      • 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 Collagen Anti Aging Face Cream with Patented Matrixyl-3000 & Argireline - 5x More Powerful w/ Pep-Boost Peptide Complex + 10 Antioxidants - Facial Wrinkle Day/Night Cream Face https://a.co/d/dvyij0d
    • I apply the retainer with notch and hole from chrisonlinestore from etsy and go to bed - this is flexible enough that it is comfortable even with night time erections and has enough grip that it stays put.

    Weekly
    • Once weekly at night after moisturizing before bed, I apply Tretinoin cream (Retin-A) to the foreskin only not the glans. I have seen many conjectures on this, bottom line is it does promote cellular growth. The redness and flaking skin that is seen a day or two after application is due to the increase cell turnover. I would start out with a very low percentage and work your way up. I’m currently using 0.1%. I try to time this with the times I will be home - meaning if I have Sat and Sun at home, I will apply on a Thursday, knowing if there is some redness that is uncomfortable I can deal with it at home instead of being at work - like I said, experiment with it safely… it’s not a label usage, but it does work as intended. It’s also not magic but does speed the process. Everyone has different results but I’ve gone from CI-2 to CI-4 in 2 months… I don’t expect that progress to continue as rapidly.

So I know that seems like a lot of stuff to carry around - I have a small zippered sunglass bag I put it all in to switch devices and keep the BP bulb in. I can take it to the bathroom when needed, but if I know I won’t be able to, I will wear the DTR or keep the longer hose to attach to inflate.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does.

To be clear, what other makers call a retainer, TLC Tugger calls a Packer: https://tlctugger.com/product/tlc-packer-0/ (because you're wrapping your skin around something vs just retaining your skin over the glans).

I like that- it makes good sense.

When I began, I tried to get as close to 24/7/365 as I could. I used tape strips, with an insert. Smaller inserts at night. This worked well, and I made good progress, at times. But I always had periods when I was not making progress too, sometimes for months. After a few years, I noticed a pattern, and realized that I was not keeping the amount of tension consistent, and that as it became routine, I tended to slack off the tension just a bit, but apparently enough to slow progress way down.

After getting the amount of tension sorted, I also reduced the amount of time under tension to 4-6 hours per day, 4 days per week. I took 3 days off each week, and took off for travel and vacations, as well as weekends. Since I now was keeping the amount of tension adjusted to its optimal level, I made good progress all the time.

I thin switched to inflation, and also reduced time tugging. My regimen was about 20 minutes, twice a day, 5 days a week. Progress was at least as good as before, and I think even better. And with this short of a time tugging, my skin did not swell or get red as the tugging days passed.

Unfortunately, at some point, after 5 years or so, my progress seemed to stop. I tried playing with tension, but that didn't seem to help. I added retaining immediately after tugging at a lower tension than I used to use, and that seemed to do the trick, back to progress. Currently I am doing about an hour, followed by an hour or so of retaining immediately after. I only do this once per day, and do not do it every day, as I skip days at times, for various reasons, so some weeks may not tug, other weeks may tug every day.

That’s super interesting - you would think consistent long term tension would while the best results… but you see often in the forum it doesn’t always. Maybe one key is continually switching it up- at least when you stall out.

Yes it is quite interesting. I do not know what the mechanism behind switching would be that helps give progress, so have my doubts that that would explain it. Based on my experience, the amount of tension seems very important, and I could easily see that switching would cause one to change the amount of tension, even while trying to keep it consistent, so my view is that the amount of tension is likely the reason for both loss of progress and getting back to making progress.

However, that seems to be only one factor, based on my most recent loss of progress, and it appears that retaining was also helpful, suggesting that tension at low levels for longer periods of times might, for some situations help as well.

I think the bottom line is that we need to experiment if we are not making progress. As the saying goes, this isn't rocket science...it a lot more difficult! (at least at times)

Found this in the American Academy of Dermatology on Tretinoin effects on skin healing. It’s one of the articles I use to justify it in my protocol.

This project seems to point to tissue growth with a sustained light tension - although the definition of light is not reported. It does say that the stretch has to happen across both lines of langerhan to be most effective (that’s the direction the collagen lines run in your skin) which would point to direct air or balloon for the most growth - especially sconce the model that worked the best in that study was the hemispherical saline implant.

                      Nice discussion, men.
I admit to never having done enough (any!) record keeping and experimentation during my T-tape restoration. I bet that I could have got to from CI 0 to CI 8 in about half the time. It took me about 12 years.
Anyway, my assessment agrees with that of Greg_b above. If progress slows then experiment, maybe first by upping one of the variables - tension or time. Also try, as Greg suggests, a gentle form of retaining after more active tugging.

One of the papers referenced above, that by Tepole et al., is for the engineering/mathematically/computationally inclined - I love it. But it gives theoretical skin expansions based on unit rate constants. And it is for area of skin whereas we are most intererested lengthwise expansion of two cylinder shaped tubes of skin. And penile skin is a bit different from skin covering other parts of the body.

Thanks for the fantastic routine information! I use the retainers and Hope air 'death grip' from chrisonlinestore and completely agree that they are amazing as they are really comfortable, simple, stealthy and never come off even with nighttime

I where them 24/7 with the retainer at night and death grip during the day, and making great progress.

I have been through loads of moisturisers, hyaluronic acid serums, and currently using pure tea tree oil which I can apply without affecting the grip of the devices.

Has anyone noticed that if you push the foreskin over the glans and then place the direct air device you can get a stretch lower on the shaft as well? Just found this and it is a way to get more tension along the entire length of the shaft.

Agreed the skin is slightly different and the growth patterns are different, but I think it’s still applicable - especially if you correlate it to direct air - each half of the inflated foreskin is similar to the hemispherical dome in the study. Foreskin (at least the outer foreskin) is almost identical histologicaly, except having more collagen and pressure receptors, less keratinized skin cells and no hair follicles. How the skin cells divide and why are the same across all epithelium. Unfortunately- there isn’t a study that applies this directly to foreskin. .. because it’s not a moneymaker in anyone’s eyes.
