Are you supposed to have a smelly penis when you're restoring?

The smell does come from the natural bacteria, good or bad, as it breaks down dead skin cells or whatever else is present in the moisture under the foreskin. There are both aerobic and anaerobic types of bacteria, and the latter are present in lower amounts around the glans of a circumcised penis. Keeping it covered through tugging will change this balance, and you might get some weird smells for a while as a result. They'll lessen over time, as you get more consistent coverage, but it's normal to get a slightly cheesy smell - not unlike toe jam or when you don't wash behind your ears.Comment

I have been restoring for 5 months and I did experience a very "fishy" smell a couple of months back. This was not a nice smell. It did persist for several weeks and was a bit concerning. I was restoring every day and kept my glans covered 24/7. However it did resolve on its own. I continued to take a shower ever day or two and clean my device with Dawn dish soap every day or two also. Now my penis has a gentle musky smell which I find quite pleasant. I think the smell issue was just the penis establishing its proportion of beneficial bacteria.Comment

There should not be a strong odor or a fishy smell. If there is one, you need to be cleaning your device and yourself more periodically. Try taking off your device more often and clean yourself more than you are. Use a wet wash cloth by the sink and wipe your penis down. Rinse the wash cloth back off in the sink. Make sure you are keeping your device clean by washing it at least once a day. When you take a shower make sure to clean your self off really well. You might even be able to bring your device in the shower as well.
Always clean yourself up after masturbating. A wet wash cloth works best.Comment

I mean it's not really supposed to smell. You should be washing your tugger each day with soap and your penis each day with water. That should help out I think.
I will say though that occasionally what can happen is that some urine may come out while you're wearing your device and be held there for some time. This can stink everything up pretty quickly so be sure that you're being hygienic.Comment

I have those smell sometimes. I would not worry too much about it. In times I cant was my glans with water I just with them dry wit a clean tissue, I also clean the tugger with alcohol and wipe it dry with tissue.
I only clean my glans with water. My cleaning routine daily for cleaning my TLC X is to clean the silicone parts them with dish soap and dip them in hot water 2 times. Then shake all part to get excess water out. Then I air dry them. I clean the metal parts with a tissue dip in alcohol every week.Comment

Avoid the temptation to use soap on the end of the penis. Clear water does it. The more loose skin debris you leave in place, the more the bacteria will digest and the more you might smell their waste gasses. The you scrub away the surface cells, the less you will smell and the less supple you will be.Comment

Compared to a vagina, a penis, even complete with a foreskin, is a very simple structure. If you do a little research on women's health sites you will see that unscented soap and water is time and again the recommended method for personal hygiene. I have always used unscented real soap and my pleasure in my restoration has never been diminished by it. Soap up and rinse if you want to be clean. Enjoy the aroma generated by your new skin folds and wash when it gets really funky.👍 1Comment

Personally I recommend against any "real soap" used inside the faux-skin for most people I talk to about restoration. If you rinse thoroughly with water, especially with some gentle mechanical stimulation (using your finger-tips), there should be no need to soap to remove the odor - even if it is really cheesy and smelly, lol.
I recommend trying to use only water to keep clean if at all possible, especially early on in the process. Soap is drying and is not really "designed" for use on mucous membranes. I realize some men prefer to still use soap down there and report good experiences, but for me and the people I've encountered, as well as the limited research I've done, it's best to use only water if possible. You want to membranes to become moist again and soap will really impede dekeratinization in most cases.Comment

The most natural part of my restoration is my smooth, dekeratinised glans. I started with a leathery, heavily pigmented, ugly knob and now have a pale and glossy mucosal wonder, restored to its natural softness with no compromises what-so-ever. I have always washed with unscented soap and water and you can see it never did me any harm. My before and after pictures say it all.1 Photo👍 2Comment
