Is there a legitimate need for circumcision in some cases, medically speaking. I know its a ridiculous practice that has been accepted by some in the medical community. But from our point of view, is it ever necessary? Aren't there alternative treatments for every problem a man may have with his foreskin? Can we say with confidence that circumcision is not ever legitimate medicine?

I'm not a doctor but i've never heard of any preventing cutting in medicine. On the contrary, in medicine they say "respect to the tissue" when there is an ongoing disease that requires cutting (cancer etc. ) even in those cases, they try to cut as little as possible.
So, as a preventive medicine i dont think its needed. But if there is a disease (growing legion, cancer or any aggresive illnes that needs to be remowed regardlles of where its in the body) that might be a last resort.
I dont think its necessary for phimosis. -
There are at least 2 medically justified reasons for circumcision: 1) phimosis and/or 2) balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) BUT only if they cause problems in urination and/or sexual function. Without any such problems, circumcision for either cause is NOT medically necessary.

I don't think there even is a need for men with phimosis. I think I've read on the previous restoration forum or online that men with tight foreskin can stretch it. Through time, just like us men restoring, the foreskin will be loose and not cause problems.Comment

Cancer, gangrenous tissue death, or an incurable skin disorder that can and does spread (like BXO) are the only legitimate medical reasons I can think.Comment

I don't care what adults want to do with their own bodies. I can't think of a legitimate reason to cut a baby unless there is some sort of life threatening illness, and even then, surely complete amputation of tissue should be a dead last resort.Started CI-0 with no movable skin and 0% FEC
