  • Am I too old for this?

Hi, new member here… I never even knew restoration was actually a thing until a few months ago. I just stumbled across a mention of it online, purely by accident. I’ve been trying to stick with manual and DIY methods for a couple months now, but I’m wondering if it’ll even be worth it since I’m 56 years old. (I keep thinking, why couldn’t I have found out about this 30 years ago?!)

Anyway, my sex drive has started waning ever since I turned 50, but I never really had much of a sex life and that’s not why I wanted to attempt restoration anyway.

So is it too late to try to teach an old dick new tricks?

Not at all. I've met restorers who decided to do this in their 60s and even 70s.

It's normal for a man's sex drive to decline after 40, and not all of us have the exact same libido in the first place, but that doesn't matter. Foreskin restoration is about increasing the quality of what you've got. It's well worth the effort.

i’m 51, started restoring a few years ago. but i have not been as dedicated to this process in about a year. i gained enough skin growth to be able to use that skin to pull over my glans (with a simple piece of tape) and keep it moist and sensitive. this is good enough for me at the very least. when i wanna get back into it, i will.

i can definitely relate to the sex drive waning as i aged. although never quite having a super high sex drive even when i was young, it was basically average.

*skip to the bottom if you don’t wanna read my in depth story below. sorry, i went off on a tangent here. i haven’t been active on this forum in about a year or so.*

at some point maybe 5 years ago, i got turned on to researching this whole circumcision business. my whole life i never knew nor did i care to understand the whole process. like all circumcised guys out there, we’ve always just known our penis the way it was (assuming you were circumcised as an infant).

anyway, i remember growing up and seeing uncircumcised boys in the locker room and, again, it didn’t bother me too much at all. this is just how it was. even as an adult i didn’t concern myself with it. i think it was the advent of the internet and being exposed to so much more information. so, it finally caught my attention and i found myself down a rabbit hole about 5 years ago. i finally learned that this was not just some useless piece of skin.

but my main takeaway from research was that my sensitivity has always been compromised. i always had to have contact with the corona while masturbating. like, direct friction. anyway, after discovering that restoration was actually possible, i really just did a quick short cut and taped my slack skin over my glans and kept it that way for a few weeks. i may have added some moisturizer as well. well, i would say after a good 2 weeks, i definitely had noticed a big difference in sensation. and it just grew from there. i suddenly felt orgasms that i never had before. the difference is unbelievable. they’re more consistently explosive and mind blowing. occasionally, prior to “restoring” i would have similar mind blowing orgasms but they were rare and i had to be really turned on. i no longer need direct contact with the corona or glans. i can sometimes just masturbate by shaking/vibrating the shaft. sometimes i massage the frenulum area only. i basically mix it up. i feel it more in my body too, rather than just localized in the penis. it’s just so much more multifaceted now. sometimes when i’m about to come i get the urge and feeling in my frenulum area to just take my finger and rub that area gently and i can feel that whole side of my shaft tingling. it’s amazing! i never ever felt any sensation in that area before.

*sex is really different now and so glad i’ve “restored.” i say that loosely cause i haven’t restored much skin but i keep the glans covered most of the time. i definitely have more slack skin and have rollover that i didn’t have before. i actually don’t feel “right“ when my glans is exposed. i’ll get back into technically restoring when i’m ready. it’s been an on/off thing for me.

so, no, 56 is not too late at all. do my simple tape technique for a few weeks to just get a taste of how much better it is. that should definitely get your sex drive up a bit. it did it for me.*

Thanks, Z. I always had a really strong sex drive when I younger (even though no one ever really wanted to have sex with me.) So it just seems “wrong “ that I never have any erections that just spontaneously pop up anymore. Oh well, like my grammy always said, “There’s no shame in getting old, but it sure is inconvenient.”

Thanks for sharing your story. I wish doctors who perform circ’s would listen to people like you and realize how much unnecessary damage they’re doing. Just because it’s considered “normal” doesn’t mean it’s natural or better. Remember that old commercial about how “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature!”

I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. Please tell me it doesn’t take that long to achieve optimal results.

I never have any erections that just spontaneously pop up anymore.
A lot of men hit retirement age and find they suddenly no longer see morning erections when they wake up. Chances are they are still having good nocturnal erections.

I'm 59 and I only learned a few years ago that we get erect during every occurence of deep REM-stage sleep (females get engorged as well), typically 4-6 times per night. So being retired means someone is less likely to use an alarm clock, and that means waking up is less likely to occur during REM-stage sleep. Waking up "naturally" is more likely during the light sleep that happens at the opposite part of the sleep cycle, when the erection has subsided.

Yeah, I still wake up with morning wood almost every single morning, and sometimes during the middle of the night too. It’s just really frustrating that my dick only wants to get hard while I’m *unconscious* and I can’t really do much with it!

Never to old to start I am 60 and started 4 years ago, won't go back to the old dried out glans and mucously inner skin for nothing, I love having my glans covered all the time, if by chance it pokes out it is uncomfortable and I make sure it is recovered.

Thanks, Gundog. I’m already starting to know what you mean. At first, it felt pretty uncomfortable having everything pulled up so tight to try to keep my glans covered. But now, after only a couple months, that’s already starting to feel “normal” and I dread having to let it back out so it can inflate and deflate while I’m asleep at night.

They do it for the quick buck from the surgery, then sell the skin for stem cells to beauty companies and labs for research for additional cash. They make money off you coming and goin', and you don't get a cent.

There was a story of a teen who sued his doctor and made a few million.

My wife was the first to notice significant ans surprising improvements to our sex life....after just a few months. So I would say you are definitely not too old, go for it.

I declared myself finished restoring with 3/4 erect coverage (CI-8.5) in 2005. I primarily used T-tape, strapping up and around my waist.
I've participated in NORM meetings in San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle (RECAP), and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Every doubt, reservation, or concern I had about my restoration was resolved by achieving additional foreskin LENGTH.....So just KOT !

Hello Guest, I was 58 years old when I started restoring. I am 75 now and have restored to a point where my skin reliably covers my glans at all "states of play" except for the strongest erection. At my age the quality of erections can vary, but I am married and still sexually active. That activity, I am sure, is directly attributable to my restoration. There were many benefits to my sexual health along the way that were important and enjoyable long before I reached my current age. I recorded the whole journey with pictures and a blog that I am sure will inform your decision. You can see it here: https://foreskinrestoration.vbulleti...-s-restoration. Best wishes, Woody
