Just saw this on a Twitter thread about circumcision (and also gender reassignment surgery). What a bonehead.

Yep, that guy clearly is a cretin. It is not mutilation to adjust the body to match the consciousness it hosts. Both sexuality and gender identity are two separate things, and both exist as a spectrum. Neither of these are any form of mental illness; one is not "deranged" if the consciousness does not identify with the body. But rather than showing empathy and understanding of these complexities, he resorts to shallow unsubstantiated insults. As for him not knowing anyone regretting circumcision, that's just an echo chamber effect of his friendship group, operating as a subset within a broader society which is still obsessed with circumcision. This does not legitimise his position. An empathetic alteration with the persons desire and consent he labels as "mutilation", yet he doesn't see the irony from his own support of an actual Unconsentual act of circumcision. But the ignorance and arrogance in ignorance of him and those of his temperament will not change; they are just something to be ignored 😂

It's possible he really doesn't know anyone who's complained. Following this Twitter post, he will.

Of course, he might just be the stubborn type to ignore a differing opinion. With social media, though, everybody sees the replies - so it's possible they might still get someone to reconsider an ignorant viewpoint.

The word "regretful" is perhaps a bad choice - it implies a bad decision that a man made for himself, not something that was forcefully done to him. Sure, there have been men that got circumcised and then regretted it later, but there aren't nearly as many as those who were cut as infants.

Empathy doesn't appear to be his strong suit and any insult he can yield or meme he can create is baseless. Focus on the positivity of those who understand and support us; the support network here and individuals throughout communities with empathy and rationality. I'm only 15 myself and constantly shocked at 1. the state of the world I am entering and 2. the nature of so many humans, that I too get depressed, angry, anxious, and severely annoyed at a number of situations. But trying to understand every humans perspective is a recipe for despair as not every human thinks with rationality, logic, or even a basic ethical empathy. So I'd recommend focusing on the good, and not letting types like this drag you down (I know this is difficult when you want people and the world to make sense...and they don't and it doesn't). But all we can do is try and reduce the impact of people like that on us, while focusing on good connections and good achievements 👍

Oh for sure. And things like psychotherapy help a lot. Good on you for trying to stay positive. I’m glad there’s a space like this for people like us and eventually more will join our side.

If you read the rest it gets even dumber. Especially the no wife/gf complains. There’s a lot of women who prefer uncircumcised because it apparently calls for better orgasm.
