    It's no big deal. I wish more people would wear their gear through TSA checkpoints and explain what's doing. I wore stainless weights through in 2011: https://tlctugger.com/airport-security/ {https://tlctugger.com/airport-security/}

    They detected my retainer from CatStretcher and patted me down.

    Obviously, they do not only try to detect metal. So I wondered what the detectors can detect in airports. Here is what I found on Transport Canada's website regarding security in our airports!

    I am surprised and not surprised at the same time. I understand, but I didn't expect it to be so!

    Full body scanners at major Canadian airports - « The technology detects "irregularities" on a passenger, including metallic and non-metallic objects of all types, sizes and shapes; ceramic threat objects, such as knives and sharp tools; and liquids and explosives of all types. »

    The reality is that I seem to have worn my retainer last June, without any problem, when I went to Cuba.

    This is beyond what I thought! That's good to know!

    It was a stupid thing to do, but I always wondered how much they could see of you on those new scanners. I am always pushing the envelope. One day it is going to bite me in the ass!

    They probably sometimes encounter people who forget to remove any metal genital piercings they might have, so your situation wouldn't have been entirely unusual. They definitely get all kinds of people who forget they're wearing jeans with metal buttons or zippers - and even then, the TSA guy with the unfortunate task of examining my waist area was a bit nervous.

    Call me crazy, but I figured a 4 hour flight would be a good time to get in some discrete stretching time, sooo I wore my retainer to the airport and went through security expecting no way was the screening machine going to "see" this thing in my briefs. Well guess what, I was flagged for a pat down! The screen next to the booth showed a little box in the front of my jeans, just where my dick should be. Attached is a pic of what I was wearing. I felt kinda sorry for the young guy who was clearly struggling with what to do with me and knowing he to pat me down, and right there. I wondered just how thorough he was going to be. Finally he checked along my waistband above my zipper and waived me through, both of us a bit red in the face. I must admit, I did feel like I missed out on the opportunity to explain it all to him.

    So next time you think they dialed down the level of detail they can see on those scanners, think again.
