  • Funky behavior on Android tablet

    When viewing the new forum on my Nexus tablet running Android, the top left "Foreskin Restoration Intactivist Network" title block resizes itself, switching back and forth from small to large font size, as you scroll down. This makes the page contents jump up and down when the title block is out of view--extremely frustrating. I guess it has something to do with Android changing the font size automatically for some reason.

    Thanks for that report. Do you have the ability to change the viewscale in that system? Maybe you're right at some boundary so it vacillates like that? I'd be happy to try changing the size of the logotype graphic +/- 10% but I fear the same problem would just happen to a different sub-set of users.

    I think we need to report this one to vBulletin. Thanks.

    {edit: re-reading I think you're talking about the textual title, not the graphics}

      Hi,
      I think it is due to a bug in this version of vBulletin (5.1.9).

      If you display the site on a desktop computer (i.e. with Firefox) and you slowly narrow the window, you'll see how the "Foreskin Restoration Intactivist Network" image shrinks down proportionally. Apart, with a window of 750 pixels or narrower, the "FORUMS, BLOGS, ARTICLES" heading swithes to a "mobile view" appearance. If you widen the window, it switches to the "desktop view", to name it somehow.

      This "intelligent" auto-sizing magic that happens under the scenes can have some issues, like what you are experiencing when scrolling down. In any case it is a bug to be resolved by the developers of vBulletin.

        Actually I am talking about the image. Checking further, I see that it misbehaves in landscape mode on the Android tablet, but is OK in portrait mode. On my iPhone 5, you can see the image change size between portrait and landscape as you rotate the phone, but it behaves normally either way.

          I have also noticed that on my android phone, the visible window for typing posts like this one is soooo narrow (vertically), less than ONE line of text is visible. This needs to be fixed as well.

            Today I suffered from this too on my Android phone, trying to write a post.

            In landscape mode, if the on-screen keyboard is visible (what else if you're trying to type in some text?), the paragraph of the post can't be seen until you hide the keyboard, which occupies more than 50% of the screen!.
            Luckily, in portrait mode there's more room on the screen and you can see the text you're typing.

            Or, on Android phones like mine, with a physical slide-out keyboard (rare nowadays), there's no problem in any orientation (with the keyboard slid out), since no on-screen keyboard appears. See these actual screenshots: Click image for larger version

              I miss my slide keyboard very much. Its absence has forced me to exploit the excellent voice dictation heavily.
