  • Just got TLC-X

I just received my new TLC-X, I have been using TLC Tugger for 2.5 years. The short rod it came with is maxing out, so I did have to switch to the longer rod, this was a surprise and encouraging at the same time.
    1) The rods do not slide easily in the collet...DO I need to sand the rod or what...it actually takes some push to get it to move in the collet. So using the spring will not have any spring at all as the friction from the collet is holding the rod from sliding.

All for now, a fix to this rod thing may answer future questions, any help please.

You have to alternately screw and unscrew the metal piece to loosen the bar

It may need a bit of a push. I went through my 2 stock rods in maybe 6 months of first starting with the TLC-X and now I've had to order in the last months a 6.25 inch and 7.25 inch. Using the 6.25 inch one now.

Anyway, perhaps wet it a little bit and give it a shove? Mine went in without a problem when I was using them so perhaps it might need to be broken in a little bit.

The rod goes in that is not the problem. I believe it should be free floating in the collet unless I lock it down. I will try to wet the rod a bit but really doubt if that will do it...Without the collet screwed down at all the rod is very snug...thinking a bit of sanding will do it but not until I hear from Ron as it is brand new...would rather not send it back if I can fix it.

You can disassemble the collet and 'stretch out' the fingers on it a bit so it will be looser without it being tightened down.

When I tug I extend the Pusher 1/4" to 1/2" but this is after adjusting the device length (before application) so that I can just force skin to cover all the white tugger body during application.

If you work with it the way it is you will get the best Collet gripping power for what your fingers can achieve tightening it.

NO. When using the spring the Collet is not part of the system. You take it out and leave it home.

Thank you, that was easy. Very carefully ran a thin knife blade between them.

Go very gently as they do not need to spread very much. I did a bit too much which made it a little tougher to tighter the collet. It has gotten better over the last few weeks so all is good.

I did fix the too tight collet problem, but I am actually not using the collet at all with the springs and tugging. I put the collet on top, push the rod in as far as it will go with both springs on and tighten the collet. It hangs right on the edge of the top metal frame until I get the outer cone...then just let it go and remove the collet.
