  • TLC-X - Does skin touch metal?

I have extremely sensitive skin and I'm allergic to most metals. For example, if I wear a metal watch for a few days I break out in a rash on my wrist. Does the skin touch any of the metal or just the silicon or plastic parts? I was looking at the TLC-X.

    Thanks!

Metal allergy is very common (just to answer the OP's, and Krowwf's Lament : )):

May not explain a specific reaction from anyone here when their skin contacts metal, but..........can happen to a lot of folks; nickel is in, or on (as an under-plating), a wide range of commercial metals. Taping over any metal used 'down there' can help. As everyone else here has said, most devices don't use much (or any) metal, but if you make your own canister and use the traditional binder clip handle, or use a strap with metal clips, then I guess there's the possibility of contact.

No metal touches your skin once you have the device on and adjusted. You could go for the DTR. Its made entirely of nylon. When it comes to metal allergies, "resistance is futile", Locutus.

Unless it's being held against your body (where the rod might touch some part of your skin), your skin shouldn't be contacting metal. The device itself is cast out of some kind of silicone.

Sorry to hear about your issues with metal.

The TLC-X Collet which you touch with your fingers and which may tickle your skin during application is machined from stainless steel.

The TLC-X Handle which you touch with your fingers and which may tickle your skin during application is bent from stainless steel wire and then passivated.

The TLC-X Rod which you touch with your fingers and which may tickle your skin during application and touch your body is machined from aluminum and then anodized with pigment compounds I could probably find out more about. We could substitute a hollow untreated stainless steel Rod.

The TLC ComforTug Straps' clips which you touch and which may touch your body continuously are stamped and plated in China from who-knows-what.

LOL! Probably not spent nuclear fuel rods, so a little tape and all is well, all is safe : )
